UNITe partners are characterized by high research results in ICT and proven importance for the economy and society in their regions. They are widely recognized leaders among the universities in Bulgaria by their research results. Recently, SU, TU and RU were acknowledged by MES as research universities.

SU and TU have been leaders in the ranking of Bulgarian universities in all areas related to ICT, incl. fundamental scientific disciplines, which is due not only to the high quality of education they offer and the successful realization of their students in the labour market, but also due to their leadership in research and the available modern scientific infrastructures. Both universities are distinguished by great project success at national and EU levels, and long-term cooperation with leading international scientific organizations, ICT companies and other organizations. Subsequently, SU and TU have maintained a high position in the development of new technologies. RU, in addition, brings to the consortium its unique expertise in 3D technologies, while ShU has achievements in cryptography, and ensuring network security. BU has strong expertise in real-time data analysis and bioinformatics. Its achievements in mathematical modelling and AI are distinguished. BU is a co-founder and active participant in the regional ICT cluster, and the South-East DIH.

As shown the partners with their branches cover all Bulgarian regions. The distributed research infrastructure of UNITe has contributed to knowledge transfer between their research communities, and has strengthen the scientific capacity in less developed BG regions.
