UNITE

From June 26 to 30, 2024, Prof. David Banjerdpongchai, Prof. Paisan Kittisupakorn, and Sirikanya Singcuna from Chulalongkorn University, the leading university in Thailand, visited University of Ruse” Angel Kanchev”.

Background of Collaboration:

The collaboration between University of Ruse “Angel Kanchev” and Chulalongkorn University dates back to 2020. In 2022, a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between the two institutions in the fields of education and scientific research, as well as an institutional agreement for the exchange of faculty, doctoral students, and students. This visit is part of the Erasmus+ exchange agreement initiated and administered by the Department of Telecommunications.

Visit Highlights:

  • Welcome and Presentations:
    The guests were welcomed by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Eng. Galina Ivanova, Vice-Rector of University of Ruse, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Eng. Alexander Ivanov, Head of the Research Sector. They introduced the guests to the university and presented the concept of the Future Education Space.
  • Presentation by Thai Guests:
    In return, the Thai delegation presented Chulalongkorn University, its structure, and the opportunities for conducting education and research activities at their institution.
  • Visit to Research Facilities:
    The Thai professors visited the newly constructed Research Complex at University of Ruse, where they toured the Laboratory of Intelligent Cyber-Physical Systems and Technologies for Generating and Visualizing Spatial Objects and Processes. They had the chance to see various robotic systems and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).
  • Center of Excellence UNITe:
    At the Center of Excellence UNITe, the guests were introduced to the specialized equipment for 3D scanning, 3D printing, kinematic motion capture, holographic pyramids, and systems for augmented and virtual reality. These technologies are essential for modern research in the fields of engineering, robotics, and digital transformation.
  • Discussions on Future Collaboration:
    Discussions were held on expanding the cooperation between the two universities, focusing on:
    • Erasmus+ faculty and student mobility.
    • Future joint research projects and publications involving scientific teams from both Bulgaria and Thailand.

Conclusion:

The visit marked another significant milestone in the growing collaboration between University of Ruse and Chulalongkorn University, with the potential for deeper cooperation in educational and research activities, including mobility programs and scientific publications.
