UNITE

On August 12, 2025, a working meeting took place at the Center of Excellence UNITe (CoE UNITe) at the University of Ruse “Angel Kanchev” between Mr. Bogdan Albu, Manager for Romania, Bulgaria, and Moldova at the cybersecurity giant Kaspersky, and members of the Research Group 3.1.3. “Intelligent Cyber-Physical Systems and Technologies for Generating and Visualizing Spatial Objects and Processes” under the “Scientific University of Ruse” Project, led by Prof. Georgi Hristov from the Department of Telecommunications.

Meeting Overview:

  • During the meeting, Mr. Albu was introduced to the history and structure of University of Ruse, the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Automation, and the Department of Telecommunications, as well as various research and educational activities and projects within the university.
  • The members of Research Group 3.1.3 provided Mr. Albu with detailed information on the goals and objectives of the “Scientific University of Ruse” Project, which is funded by the European Union – NextGenerationEU through the National Recovery and Resilience Plan of Bulgaria under contract BG-RRP-2.013-0001. They also shared the group’s main activities and research outcomes.
  • The project BG16RFPR002-1.014-0004 – Center of Excellence UNITe was also presented. This project is financed by the Program for Scientific Research, Innovation, and Digitalization for Intelligent Transformation 2021-2027, co-funded by the European Union.

Key Points from the Meeting:

  • After the presentations and information sharing, Mr. Albu expressed Kaspersky’s willingness to engage in deepened cooperation with University of Ruse, which includes:
    • Signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two institutions;
    • Hosting regular technical presentations by Kaspersky experts for the university students;
    • Training and certification of University of Ruse lecturers on how to work with Kaspersky’s cybersecurity solutions;
    • Establishing a specialized cybersecurity training laboratory at University of Ruse, featuring Kaspersky products and educational materials, to be integrated into the university’s educational processes.
  • After the working meeting, Mr. Albu visited the 3D digitization, kinematics, 3D printing, and 3D visualization laboratories at the Center of Excellence UNITeand learned about the activities of the researchers working at the center.

This collaboration has the potential to greatly enhance the cybersecurity education at University of Ruse and foster stronger ties with the industry leader in cybersecurity, Kaspersky.
