UNITE

From May 27 to May 31, 2024, Assoc. Prof. Omar Almousa from the Department of Cybersecurity at Jordan University of Science and Technology (JUST) visited University of Ruse “Angel Kanchev”. During his visit, Prof. Almousa met with Assoc. Prof. Alexander Ivanov, Director of the Research Sector at University of Ruse, and the leadership of the Department of Telecommunications. He also met with faculty members, PhD students, and other students in the department.

Concurrently with Other Foreign Visitors:

Prof. Almousa’s visit coincided with the visit of Assoc. Prof. Punnarumol Temdee and Asst. Prof. Dr. Roungsan Chaisricharoen from Mae Fah Luang University (MFU) in Thailand. The visits of these international researchers from JUST and MFU were part of the Erasmus+ bilateral exchange agreements between the universities, coordinated by the Department of Telecommunications at University of Ruse.

Key Highlights of the Visit:

  1. Meetings with University Leadership:
    On May 31, 2024, the three visiting professors had a meeting with Assoc. Prof. Galina Ivanova, Vice-Rector for International Cooperation at University of Ruse. During the meeting, Prof. Ivanova presented the university and its concept for Future Education Space. The guests from MFU and JUST also introduced their respective institutions and discussed opportunities for education and research collaborations.
  2. Discussions on Future Collaboration:
    The meeting continued with an in-depth discussion about the possibilities for:
    • Participation in international conferences.
    • Publication of joint papers and articles.
    • Training of students and PhD candidates.
    • Organizing practical seminars.
    • Developing joint international scientific and educational projects.
  3. Visit to University Facilities:
    The visiting professors had the opportunity to tour the Museum Exhibition and University Campus. They visited the Research Complex at University of Ruse, including the Laboratory of Intelligent Cyber-Physical Systems and Technologies for Generating and Visualizing Spatial Objects and Processes. Here, they explored various robotic systems and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).
  4. Center of Excellence UNITe:
    At the Center of Excellence UNITe, the guests were introduced to the modern solutions for digitalization and visualization of objects, as well as new 3D scanning technologies.
  5. Participation in Classes:
    The visiting professors also had the chance to attend classes in the “3D Technologies” course, which is being taught in English this semester by faculty from the Department of Telecommunications. This course is part of the Erasmus+ exchange program involving students from MFU.

Impressions from the Visitors:

  • Assoc. Prof. Temdee, one of the top 2% of researchers worldwide, confirmed MFU’s readiness to expand its cooperation with University of Ruse.
  • Prof. Almousa shared the positive impressions, stating that Jordan University of Science and Technology, the largest university in Jordan, made the right decision in choosing University of Ruse “Angel Kanchev” as its partner in Bulgaria.

Conclusion:

The visit of the international professors from MFU and JUST further solidified the growing relationship between University of Ruse and leading academic institutions in Jordan and Thailand, opening doors for further academic cooperation, research, and mobility programs under Erasmus+.
