On November 4, 2025, the “John Atanasoff” Hall at Sofia Tech Park hosted a national meeting entitled “From Science to Innovation,” organized by the Executive Agency “Education Program” of the Ministry of Education and Science.
During the forum, opportunities for cooperation between Centers of Excellence (CoE) and Centers of Competence (CoC) with the business sector were presented, through research and development services, joint cooperation, technology transfer, etc. The event program included presentations and discussions in three thematic panels: 1. “Mechatronics and Clean Technologies,” 2. “Healthy Living Industry and Biotechnology”, and 3. “Informatics and ICT” and “New Technologies in Creative and Recreational Industries”. In addition, business representatives had the opportunity to learn about the work, achievements, and scope of activity of each CoE and CoC by visiting their exhibition stands in front of the hall itself.
Project BG16RFPR002-1.014-0004, Center of Excellence “Universities for ScieNce, Informatics and Technologies in the e-Society” – UNITe (UNITe Project), which is funded under the “Scientific Research, Innovation and Digitization for Smart Transformation” Program 2021-2027 and co-funded by the European Union, was presented at the event with its own stand, where visitors could see various 3D scanners, unmanned aerial vehicles, three-dimensional models, developments in the field of augmented and virtual reality, etc. The visitors to the stand had the opportunity to learn about the results achieved by the scientific group of University of Ruse, and some of the products were demonstrated to them.
During the discussions, which were moderated by the popular TV host Dobrina Cheshmedjieva, CoE UNITe was represented by Prof. Plamen Zahariev from the Department of Telecommunications at University of Ruse “Angel Kanchev”. Mr. Martin Kostov from Tornado Studio Ltd., a long-standing partner of the CoE UNITe and the Department of Telecommunications, also participated in the discussions. They answered questions related to the long-standing cooperation between researchers from University of Ruse and their colleagues from Tornado Studio Ltd.
